How to make a lecture

The files that make up this package contain Athena software
for installation on a Windows system plus an Athena 2.3. CD.
The latter contains the file structure of the CD-version
of Athena. You can expand the files and load them into a CD-writer
to make CD-copies for your class. The student CD will then either
install Athena or run Athena from CD on Windows systems. If
you do not have permission to install Athena on school computers,
this is your option.
Quick Start instructions describe how to install or
run Athena from CD. Demo files about Experience learning
help the students (and you) get an idea of how to use the program.
There is one doc-file using Plato's Phaedo as example
to give a step by step demonstration of Athena properties in
analysing the structure of an argumentative text and to evaluate
it. Another doc-file uses examples from Sherlock Holmes to
explain the criteria of good reasoning.
There is one ppt-file that can be used to support a lecture,
presenting the main ideas and features of Athena. As a
guide to teacher inspiration, another ppt-file indicates how
new ways of argumentative lectures and tasks can be developed. |
